Per the Greater Houston Partnership, more than 4,200 energy-related firms operate in the Houston region, spanning oil & gas, renewables, hydrogen, petrochemicals and advanced energy tech. We clean up, catch up and close the books for businesses across the metro, energy, medical, port and hospitality among them, remotely and inside each client's own QuickBooks file.

Every engagement is reviewed before delivery. What the review covers. From The Woodlands to the Ship Channel, your close is checked before it reaches you.

Quick answer

Yes. Owners across Harris County, Houston included, get remote bookkeeping, cleanup and catch-up from us. Per the Texas Comptroller, METRO's 1% transit tax applies only inside its service area, so a business with addresses on both sides of that line books a separate combined rate for each. Start with a free books review.

Who we serve

Bookkeeping built around what Houston businesses actually do.

We serve energy-sector contractors and service firms, medical and dental practices, hospitality operators, and port and logistics businesses across the Houston metro — all remotely, inside your own QuickBooks file. This includes the wider Houston area — Spring, Tomball, Kingwood, Humble and The Woodlands among them.

Energy-sector contractors & service firms

Oilfield-service contractors and energy-services firms need job costs, equipment and vendor terms tied out every month, not only the bank balance.

Medical & dental practices

The Texas Medical Center campus reports more than 120,000 total employees, per Texas Medical Center. Billing, insurance reimbursement and collections need to be tracked apart from operating cash.

Medical & dental bookkeeping

Hospitality operators

Leisure and hospitality employs roughly 370,600 people across the Houston region, per Houston First Corporation. POS deposits, tips and vendor payments have to tie out every month regardless of season.

Restaurant & hospitality bookkeeping

Port & logistics businesses

Port Houston moves cargo through the Houston Ship Channel; the freight, warehousing and trucking operators that carry it inland need job costing and fuel-and-equipment tracking built into their books, not bolted on after the fact.

E-commerce & retail

Channel reconciliation, inventory, and cost of goods across the platforms a Houston retailer sells on — tied out monthly so margins are real, not assumed.

Owner-run & growing businesses

A reconciled monthly close and real reporting for owners past the spreadsheet stage — without hiring and managing in-house staff.

A table comparing two Houston-area business addresses: both carry the 6.25% Texas state sales and use tax, local taxes of up to 2% and a combined cap of 8.25%, but only the address inside METRO's service area includes METRO's 1% transit tax, in place since October 1, 1978, so each address gets its own combined rate and its own liability line in the books.

Which of your addresses sit inside METRO's area comes from the Comptroller's published rates and your CPA's reading; the books then keep each combined rate on its own line.

How remote works

Remote, but never distant.

For bookkeeping, distance is irrelevant. The work happens inside your QuickBooks file, handled securely, not across a desk.

What you notice instead is the process: your books reconciled to source, closed on a fixed cadence, and reviewed before delivery.

Your own QuickBooks file

We work inside your QBO or Desktop file with accountant-level access — you keep it and your full history.

Secure, paperless handoff

Multi-factor authentication on each login we hold for your books, with access limited to what the job needs; statements arrive by secure upload, not across town.

A close on a fixed cadence

A reconciled monthly close, reviewed before delivery.

ONE MONTH · TWO SIDES · ONE ANSWER THE BANK STATEMENT Ending balance on the statement + deposits in transit − checks not yet cleared ADJUSTED BANK BALANCE YOUR BOOKS Ending balance in the ledger + interest, − fees not yet recorded ± errors found and corrected ADJUSTED BOOK BALANCE THEY AGREE — DIFFERENCE: ZERO Only then is the month locked
Wherever in the Houston metro the business runs, its month closes on this test: the statement side and the books side meet at one balance before the month is locked and reports go out.

Houston-area businesses get the same remote service as any Texas business. Clean reconciliations, a close you can trust and a review before delivery do not depend on distance.

FAQ · Updated October 2026

Straight answers for Houston business owners.

It needs no one on site. You grant accountant access to your QuickBooks file, bank and card statements come through a secure exchange, and the missing months are rebuilt oldest first and reconciled to those statements. For a Houston business inside the METRO service area, each rebuilt month's sales tax is checked against a combined rate that includes the 1% transit tax, and the sales-tax-payable balance is tied to what was actually remitted for that month.
Yes. This includes the wider Houston area — Spring, Tomball, Kingwood, Humble and The Woodlands among them — all served remotely, the same way as Houston itself: your own QuickBooks file, documents exchanged securely, and every engagement reviewed before delivery.
The chart of accounts has to carry job costs, equipment, and freight or well-site expenses as their own categories instead of lumping them into overhead, and every vendor bill, subcontractor invoice, and equipment-rental charge has to tie back to the specific job it belongs to — otherwise you can't tell which job or route actually made money. We build that structure in from the start, whether you're an oilfield-service contractor, a freight operator, or a shop near the Houston Ship Channel, and reconcile job costs against vendor statements every month, not just the bank.
The complication isn't the sale — it's the gap between what's billed and what an insurer actually pays. A practice's books need production, contractual adjustments, and collections tracked as separate lines, with the practice-management system reconciled to the bank deposit rather than assumed to match it, so a reimbursement that lands weeks or months later doesn't get mistaken for a bad month. We build that structure for medical and dental practices across the Houston area, whether or not they're TMC-adjacent.
Because local sales tax stacks by jurisdiction, not just by metro area. Per the Texas Comptroller, the state side is a 6.25% state sales and use tax, and cities, counties, transit authorities and special-purpose districts can add up to 2% more on top of that. Inside the METRO service area, the local share includes a 1% transit tax from the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, in place since October 1, 1978 — but only for addresses within that district; a Houston-area address outside that district doesn't carry the same transit line, so a business with more than one location shouldn't assume every address carries the identical combined rate without checking. We make sure your books record the correct combined rate for each location and that your sales-tax-payable account ties out to what you actually remit — your CPA determines taxability, we keep it trackable.
